Winter is said to host many dreaded colds and flu bugs. Not only that, but it is historically known as one of the most depressing seasons in North America.
Why is it a dull season to many?
I think it is the lack of sunshine, flu’s and colds, and a dull feeling after the excitement of the holidays.
Many people find themselves battling cold after cold, having less energy than they would like and even feeling alittle blue.
But, rather than grab for cough syrup and cold remedies, how about boosting your immune system so you are rock solid and don’t get sick at all?
Wouldn’t you like to cruise through winter healthy, happy and have boundless amounts of energy?
I know I would!
Lets Clear Some Things Up First
Many people believe that if you go out into the cold weather dressed improperly, you will catch a cold. Whether that is an old wives tale or a good parental scare tactic, it’s just not true.
Cold weather actually boost your IMMUNE SYSTEM. Going from cold to hot gets your lymphatic system moving, heart pumping and immune system engaged. It’s like giving your immune system a workout!
What About the Germs?
Do you think that there are actually more germs floating around in the winter than in the summer?
The germs are still there. It’s actually the sun’s UVB & UVA Rays that increase your absorption of Vitamin D keeping your immune system strong in the summer months.
Yes, you still get Vitamin D in the winter just less is absorbed from less UVB & UVA Rays.
I should mention that people are generally happier in the summer. With happiness comes less stress, and since stress is a major immune system inhibitor, it’s no wonder less people get sick in the summer.
Could It Be Less Exercise?
Like it or not, for the most part, people are not as active in the winter months. They stay indoors more often than not, and don’t engage in as many sports. Even getting to the gym can prove to be a big feat for some.
Exercise improves circulation, stimulates the immune system, detoxifies your body and raises energy levels. Not only is it essential for good immunity, but it gives you a good boost of 'feel good hormones.'
So, exercise is essential for warding off flu bugs for sure.
7 Tips for Increasing Immunity
1. Exercise – Make sure that you are getting at least 30-60 minutes of exercise daily. This will increase your immunity, help you stay strong and fit and give you the 'joy du vive' you are looking for in the winter.
Have you ever noticed that people who exercise in the winter are happier?
2. Vitamin D – Supplement with Vitamin D to increase your body’s immunity in the winter months. Vitamin D helps you fight infections of all kinds.
A study in Japan, showed that school aged children taking Vitamin D everyday during the winter, reduced their risk of catching the flu.
The recommended daily intake of Vitamin D is 1000 iu for adults. But, I have found that most people living in the Northern Hemisphere require more to maintain optimal levels. Make sure to get tested with your doctor to see where your Vitamin D levels are.
3. Get Adequate Rest – Let’s face it, even with the dark days upon us, a lot of us have a tendency to stay up way too late. Lack of rest not only decreases your body’s energy, but also increases your stress levels. Stress lowers immunity.
You should be striving to get to bed by 10pm everyday to keep your body’s energy up and therefore your immunity.
4. Probiotics – One of the best immune boosters are good flora or Probiotics. Did you know that good good flora make up the first line of defense for your immune system. Good flora also create about 80% of your immunity. So, it goes without saying that to have great immunity, you definitely need to have a strong gut health.
I personally supplement with good flora containing fermented foods like kefir and kombucha on a daily basis. You can also use Probiotics, which can be found in your natural health food store or in my store.
Make sure you buy a Probiotics that are stored in the fridge to maintain potency.
5. Herbal Immune Boosters – There are many Herbal Immune Boosters you can use in the winter for both prevention and treatment. The key is consistency. My favorvites include:
Echinacea – This is one of the more commonly known immune boosters, but I find that it is not always used correctly. Echinacea is widely used to fight infections, especially common colds and other upper respiratory infections. I have also used it at the first signs of mastitis quite effectively. The key is to use it at the first signs of infection: virus or bacteria.
So how do you use Echinacea?
Firstly, it’s more potent and effective to use a tincture made from fresh Echinacea rather than dried. Dried Echinacea has normally lost a lot of its potency.
Echinacea tincture can be used on the first signs of a cold or flu. But, 20-30 drops two to three times a day is usually not that effective. For the first sign of a cold or infection, Echinacea can be used safely every 1-2 hours 1tsp or 30 drops, until the cold or infection subsides.
As always if you have an infection that does not improve, you should always see a doctor. Also, if you have an auto-immune disease you should speak with a practitioner before using it.
You can purchase Echinacea at health food stores or online.
Astragalus Root - This is another herb used in Traditional Chinese Medicine as an ENERGY & IMMUNE BOOSTER. It’s known as an adaptogenic herb, which means it lowers your stress hormone cortisol. Stress hormones inhibit your immune system, so Astragalus is a powerful herb to keep on hand.
Astragalus also strengthen the lungs, which can lessen your susceptibility to respiratory infections and viruses and contains antioxidants that reduce inflammation.
This is something I like to take everyday in the winter to keep my immune system top notch.
You can buy Astragalus at health food stores or online.
Pine Needles – Did you know that pine needles are extremely high in Vitamin C & A? Not only that, but they are also a very powerful antioxidant, antiviral and immune system powerhouse. Pine Needles have been used for eons by native communities to boost Vitamin C levels, prevent cold and flu.
Pine Needles are great for preventing oxidative stress, beneficial for your skin and hair, and even have been known to improve vision.
Pine Needle tea also is antiseptic, helping to prevent bad bacteria and microbes from affecting your body. They also help treat respiratory cold and infection by expectorating phlegm and neutralizing pathogens found in the sinuses.
All you need are some Pine Needles and a pot of water. A good handful will do. Just bring water to a boil, turn off, put Pine Needles in pot, cover and let steep for 15-30mins. Strain and enjoy.
6. Local Raw Honey – Honey is perhaps one of the best immune system boosters out there. The world health organization lists honey as a demulcent, which treats coughs. I have used it for dry cough quite successfully.
Raw honey contains bee pollen, which is also known to ward off infections, prevent allergies, and is a natural source of energy.
Honey has been extensively studied and has been shown to increase disease fighting polyphenols in the blood. Polyphenols are part of what makes honey a great choice for both prevention and treatment of colds.
7. Laughter - They say laughter is the best medicine. I think this is more true than we realize. Not only does laughter increase our sense of well being, inner happiness and energy, but it creates a strong immune system.
It's one of the easiest ways to boost immunity.
I think that as adults we tend to laugh less than children. Perhaps we should take a tip from the kids and be more care-free in life?
So, how can you bring more laughter into your life? Make a commintment to laugh everyday, even if there is nothing to laugh at. Some would call this Laughter Yoga. Simply laugh. Soon you will be laughing at how silly it is and it will become infectious.
You could also make time to watch a comedy, visit friends (this usually brings about some laughs) and even play with kids. It doesn't matter how you do it, just make time for laughing each day.
What matters most for yourself is to come up with a good plan to keep your body and mind healthy and enjoy winter.
You will know you are doing good when people around you are getting sick and you are not or you recover quickly from colds and flus.
Greatness doesn’t happen overnight, it’s created through regular consistent investment of your time and energy.
You’re already putting your energy into things, why not direct your time and energy into things that help you to thrive.

5 Things to Make 2019 Great
1. Exercise for 1hr daily.
If you want to take your health to the next level exercise is the way to do it. I have been working out, lifting weights and swimming 3-4 days per week for 2 months. In that short amount of time I have built up more muscle mass, am physically stronger, improved my endurance and energy level, feel less stressed, and haven’t gotten a sick (in the most notorious time of year to get sick).
On top of all that, I walk 1-2 hrs per day with my dogs.
There are so many benefits to exercise like:
Stronger lungs = more oxygen to your muscles and brain = more energy.
Protection from flus and colds. Exercise increases immunoglobulins, which are proteins that help bolster your immune system and ward off infection.
Mental calmness - Mood-enhancing chemicals, like serotonin, dopamine, and norepinephrine, flood your brain for a couple of hours post-exercise and for up to a day if you've competed in an endurance event, like a marathon. Stress? What stress?
Healthy weight - You're blasting calories, even at rest. "For every 100 calories you burn during your workout, you can expect to burn 15 calories after," Example, If you went on a three-mile run, you would torch about 300 calories, which could mean zapping an extra 45 later.
Healthy Heart – After every sweat session you lower your blood pressure for up to 16hrs.
Risk of diabetes goes down - The more you work out, the greater your sensitivity to insulin. That, in turn, lowers your blood sugar levels, reducing your risk of type 2 diabetes.
Physically stronger – regular exercise strengthens your muscles, bones and organs, helping to prevent weakness as you age.
Anti-aging – Fitness buffs have more telomeres. The DNA that bookends our chromosomes and protects them from damage, which can slow the aging process, studies show.
Melt away fat – After 4 weeks of regular exercise, your body ditches flab and gains muscle. Overweight people who took part in a four-week program of moderate aerobic exercise in an Australian study reduced ab fat by 12%. Wow, that’s fantastic!
2. Love yourself every day!
I have been focusing on loving myself unconditionally for the last 6yrs.
The benefits I have gained from this are:
Attracted more friends into my life
Developed healthier relationship with family and friends.
Heal faster physically
Feel more optimistic about life.
The trick to loving yourself is to tell yourself, “I love myself unconditionally,” and allow yourself to feel the how you react to that statement.
Allow yourself to fully embrace the feelings created by loving yourself unconditionally.
The next thing, I recommend you do is ask yourself, “What do I want to do today that will help me love myself even more?”
Ask yourself this question in a quiet & calm place and listen to the answer your body gives back to you.
3. Set a goal of something you really want to do for yourself?
This could be a trip, get into better shape and health, learn a new skill or make a new friend.
This is not limited to one goal, set as many as you would like, but remember to take action to make them happen.
4. Go somewhere you have never been before.
This helps you get out of routine, your comfort zone and realize there’s more to life than what is going on in your world.
I know when I go somewhere I haven’t been before I experience a lot of unexpected happiness. This is due to growing and learning new things, which stimulates serotonin production.
5. Meditate on a daily basis.
Meditation is amazing at showing you where you could be limiting yourself. Limits create stagnation and stagnation is the root of all imbalances: mental, emotional, spiritual and physical.
Therefore, by meditating you have the ability to make the unconscious conscious and see how you are affecting yourself and make the changes needed to live a fulfilling life.

I had a realization this week, about where a part of me was living my life from. I was living my life through a place of thinking, “I need to make more money to be happy.” At times in the past when I would make a lot of money I would feel happy, but then other times when I thought I didn’t make enough I would feel very unhappy and stressed. Resulting in me making bad choices for myself.
This unhealthy definition is not something I came up with on my own, this is a belief that many people are brainwashed with through media, other people and a lot of North American culture.
The chase for wealth is a very unnatural way of living, there is so much stress associated with it because human’s have a natural instinct to always want more of whatever their goal is.
One thing I have grown to understand over the years is, “Wealth is the result of my actions.” So, I if I want to be wealthy I need to do the things/actions that will produce it. And with me being a very holistic minded person, I want to help people achieve their full potential.
Back to my story….
After having this realization, I decided to change my goal of my life by first asking myself the question, “How do I want to feel?”
The answer I came up with was, “Joy.” So, I decided I am going to start living my life from a place of joy.
So, my next question was, “What do I need to do to create that?”
The answer my soul gave me back was, “To just be.” The answer felt peaceful, joyful and loving.
I then asked myself some more specific questions.
From a work standpoint the message I received was to share how I feel and help others pinpoint exactly what they want out of their lives. When you know what you want then you can achieve it.
From a physical health standpoint I want to eat the healthiest food/diet possible for myself and do exercises and movement that make me feel good.
Emotionally: Be open and accepting of other people and their views, be kind and gentle on myself always.
Mentally: Accept that I don’t know everything and ask for help.
Spiritually: Continually align myself with the highest form of unconditional love.
So, my question for you is, “Where are you living your life from?” If you’re not sure how to answer that then, “What is the most common way you feel about your life?”
How you feel has a direct impact on every aspect of your life such as health, relationships and finances.
Below I have written the steps I used to find out what was controlling my life and how I changed it into what I do want.
Steps to Create the Life you Desire
Find somewhere quiet and peace, close your eyes and take 3 deep breaths. With your eyes close bring your attention to the centre of your chest and ask yourself, “How do I feel about my life?” The answer you receive may come back in words, feelings, or images. Do your best to interpret the message.
Ask yourself, “Why you feel this way about your life?” Did the answer you got back feel healthy or unhealthy to you?
At this time decide if you want to keep living your life in this way or are you ready to change and live your life in a better way?
If you want to live your life in a better way, ask yourself (at that chest level), “How do I want my life to feel on a regular basis?”
With your answer, ask yourself, “What do I need to do to live this way?”
At this point you can start being more specific like asking, “What do I need to do physically, emotionally, mentally or spiritually to live this way?” Ask whatever question you would like in regards to your answer.

Yes, Adam, I agree. We create many roadblocks to what we truly desire because of the limitations we impose upon ourselves based on ingrained beliefs. However, once we determine to 'listen' to our inner self and become aware, then we can bring about the change we seek. Our thoughts really do create our outcome. Let go and let God; trust and believe we will be directed to what is best for our highest good. It works!!!
Over the past few weeks, I had the opportunity to accompany a friend to Sanoviv Medical Institute in Mexico.
Sanoviv specializes in treating many chronic health conditions like cancer, autoimmune disorders and Lyme disease. They also run detox programs to improve your health.
There were a few things that became quite apparent for health and healing while I was there. Nothing that was new to me, but instead reinforced the importance of it to maintain and optimize health.
3 Things that Rob Your Health and What you can do about them
Sugar is one of the worst things you can eat. If you were to add up all the sugar you eat in a day, you would be astounded. Most of the sugar people eat, is not even in realization that they are eating sugar in the first place.
Did you know that bread even turns to sugar in your body?
Or how about sweeteners like agave nectar, corn syrup, dextrose, fructose, etc. that show up in most of our packaged foods?
I learned sugar feeds ill health and in particular cancer.
Now, fruit shouldn’t be confused with sugar. Fruit in its whole form contains fiber which slows down the rate at which glucose hits the blood stream. However, you should still be careful with how much fruit you eat.
Did you know that 1 apple contains 4 teaspoons of sugar? If you juice that apple, the entire 4 tsp will absorb and feed your cells with sugar. That is why it’s best to eat fruit in its whole form, fiber intact.
The last thing I will say about sugar is watch the amount of sauces you use and even salad dressings. Make your own and keep sugar out.
I also learned that sugar causes a fatty liver. Got a fatty liver? A fatty liver is the liver being flooded with too much sugar. Cut it out and see what happens.
Keep Inflammation as low as possible. Inflammation is rampant in people’s bodies these days. The common North American diet is very inflammatory with gluten and processed foods like dairy, sugar, sauces and dips, coffee, etc.
Inflammation clogs up your body’s ability to properly detoxify, and to heal.
Eating a very heavy diet in vegetables which is as organic as possible is one of the best ways to keep inflammation at bay.
At Sanoviv, most meals were completely vegetable base with some added nuts and fats like avocado. I found myself eating a big salad with seeds and avocado, and then some steamed veggies on the side. Very little white meat/poultry was eaten, and the only grains consumed were quinoa, oatmeal, wild rice and brown rice. There were very few legumes aside from lentils. I noticed I felt very clean eating this way.
One of my favorite things they served was Golden Milk. Now, Golden Milk is amazing at reducing inflammation, getting your liver detoxifying and blood purifying. It’s great for the joints and arthritis and is even a great tonic for a woman’s reproductive system.
I recommend that you make Golden Milk if you have never tried it.
Golden Milk Recipe
¼ cup of water
1/8 tsp of turmeric
1 cup almond or nut milk
1-2 tablespoons of almond oil or nut oil
Pinch of cardamon and cinnamon
Raw honey to taste if desired.
Boil water and turmeric in a small saucepan over medium to high heat for 8 mins. This cooks the turmeric and releases its properties. Meanwhile bring the rice or nut milk to a boil in another saucepan and then remove from heat. Add in the coconut oil or almond oil, cardamon and cinnamon as well as the raw honey if desired. Mix both mixtures together. Drink and enjoy.
3. You Can’t Heal if You are Stressed
Lastly, I would like to mention my biggest takeaway. If one cannot maintain a balanced state of inner peace, and allows stress to lead the way, health will be hard to maintain. I realized that stress comes in many forms. Complaining, control, or feeling a lack of control, worry, feeling unloved, not being present in the moment, anger and supressed frustration, harboring old hurt (which only hurts you) and lack of self-love to name a few.
I learnt that surrender and acceptance even in crappy circumstances is essential to healing. One woman I met at Sanoviv was able to align her mind and body into a place of peace, acceptance, and wellbeing while she was there. In three weeks, her cancer markers returned to that of a healthy person. Rather than stressing about the disease itself, she choose to be at peace and know that her mind was her biggest ally in healing.
One doctor at Sanoviv said that there are only two reasons for illness other than injury, a bad diet and stress. If you can work on both of those, you have the best chance at a good healthy life.
Of course, I re-learned a lot more while visiting Sanoviv Medical Institute. I will be sharing these with you over the coming weeks. So, stay tuned!
I spent 11 days at Sanoviv in the fall of 2016! It was possibly the best thing I have ever done for myself. I loved everything (well, I didn’t actually like the chiropractic... but I have never been comfortable with it, so it was nothing to do with Sanoviv) ?? Don’t let negative emotions stop you from healing.
Did you know that negative emotions like anger, fear and hatred work against you if you are trying to heal?
They stop you from healing because they inhibit you from feeling love and LOVE HEALS.
Dr. Bernie Siegel explains the connection between love and health by saying that when you do not love your life your body suffers. It’s the ‘good girl’ who gets breast cancer. She’s the one who takes care of others needs and desires at the expense of her own.
The 'good girl' may see love as conforming. Of course, there are times that conforming is in your best interest. But conforming for love's sake stifles creativity and makes it impossible to live an authentic life. This creates stress and chronic stress leads to illness.
People often feel this stress on Monday - the most common day for suicide, heart attacks and illness.
Dean Shrock, PhD, author of “Why Love Heals” discovered scientific proof that love heals. Dr. Shrock was a director of Mind-Body Medicine for 40 cancer centers. He found that his patients lived much longer than those receiving only conventional medical care.
It was not his programs or teachings that made the difference, but the care his patients felt from him.
I wonder what would have happened if his patients learned how to love themselves unconditionally.
Dr. Shrock defines love as an all pervasive energy that flows through everything. Connecting emotionally and spiritually is the essence of life and health.
He explains that love is oneness. On a subatomic level, we are all connected. When you experience it, you are resonating with the essence of the universe and who you are. The quantum field flows freely and health is the result. You yourself are source energy.
When you love yourself and accept it from others, you naturally attract healthier relationships, healing, and blessings from the universe.
Very few people are taught this as children or let alone at all. So, now is your chance to integrate this knowledge.

We all know that lots of socializing over the holidays, means lots of yummy food and over indulgance. It can also mean bad food combining, which is a recipe for a gassy bloated couch potato.
Digestive Tips to Reduce and Prevent the Holiday Heaviness in Your Tummy
1. Digestive Enzymes with Betain HCL - I love to use 'NOW Super Enzymes.' I find them to work extremely well for me and most people who use them. Take 15 mins before eating. This will help increase your stomach acid so that you can digest a big heavy meal with ease and comfort. They contain Betaine HCL and other plant digestive enzymes to make your digestion work like a well oiled machine. You don't need to feel lethargic after your holiday meal.
2. Digestive Bitters - This is another favourite to use before a meal. Just a teaspoon of digestive bitters 15 mins before eating will get your liver secreting bile, which will increase your stomach acid and other digestive enzymes for better digestion.
3. Apple Cider Vinegar - Just a capful of apple cider vinegar in an ounce or more of water 15 mins before a meal helps to increase your stomach acid. Some people love Apple Cider Vinegar as much as other enzymes and digestive tricks. It will help to digest your meal with ease leaving gas and bloating out of the equation.
4. Peppermint Tea or Peppermint Essential oil - If you don't have any of the above or just forget, you can sip on a cup of peppermint tea after a big meal. Peppermint tea will help you to move the bloating and digestive heaviness through your digestive tract with ease. You can also use a high quality essential oil like DoTerra or Young Living peppermint oil. Just a drop in a warm cup of water will be enough.

Good day Adam thanks for sharing. My life is spent outside either walking my dog, or riding my bike. I don't feel right if I haven't been outside at least once a day. Oh gardening as well. However, for some reason I have this arthritis going on in my fingers and not sure why. If I wasn't seeing it first hand I would never think I wasn't healthy. I feel healthy, and didn't feel unhealthy prior to this starting. Does getting your fingers cold do this. Your ability to be healthy is greatly dependent on how well you adapt. This is because when you are adaptable and exposed to different stressors you have an easier time moving through them without being taken out by stress.
Let’s face it, STRESS is unavoidable. You never know when it will show up, the best thing I have found that can be done is have a preventative strategy and adapt to it when it does show up.
How Does Stress Effect Your Health?
Stress can be the # 1 cause of health problems because it drains your energy and makes you more vulnerable to make poor choices, which can translate to your physical body’s intelligence lowering.
Depending on the amount of energy you invest into the stressors, your body can have trouble coping and regulating autonomic functions like immunity, repairing itself, digesting food, circulating blood, breathing, balancing hormones and even regulating your sleep cycle.
There are several health issues linked to stress:
High blood pressure
Diabetes type 2
Headaches & migraines
Gastrointestinal disorders like chronic heartburn & irritable bowel syndrome (IBS)
Brain lesions (which are linked to Alzheimer's disease)
To prevent and heal from health issues you have to change and be adaptable. I have found that I am much more adaptable when I am in a loving mind set.
Be Adaptable to Prevent and Heal from Health Issues
Your mental state is essential. When stress shows up in your life make sure you view and approach it with a solution oriented mindset.
Be aware that there is a stress, but put your attention on how to solve it rather than the problem itself.
To prevent and heal from health issues it is important to focus on unconditional love. If you don’t know what unconditional love is, let me tell you. Unconditional love is loving someone, something, even yourself despite who or what they are, their beliefs, actions, feelings, etc.
I know it can be challenging to love yourself and some people because you may feel they don’t deserve it, they are mean, they have done bad things, maybe even killed people. But how do you expect you or that person to change if they only receive negative feelings, thoughts, or actions towards them.
I have found to BE Unconditional Love, the first step is to develop Self-Love.

It is a great exercise to do every day in the morning or when you are feeling out of balance to bring you back to a state of balance.

Close your eyes and put your awareness on your heart.
While focusing on your heart pay attention to what it tells you.
Any feelings or thoughts that come up, which are not healthy or balanced feeling, let them go. To let them go, say, “I let this go.”
After your heart feels clear and balanced, say, “I love myself unconditionally.”
Allow in new healthy energy to fill you up. To help with this say, I am open to allowing new healthy energy into my life.”
Integrate this new healthy energy. To do this say, I integrate the new healthy energy in my life.
Visualize your heart being bright pink and take 7 deep breaths imagining your heart filling with pink energy and it getting bigger and expanding outward as far as you can imagine. (You can do more that 7 breaths if you want.)
Place your palms over your heart and take 9 deep breaths with a smile on your face.
Laugh (even if it is fake).

The Scoop On Stress
Stress really is all about your perception of life and your experiences. It is often related to your feelings of:
Over time, these negative feelings and emotions become compounded and can trigger chronic stress.
Stress is the number one reason for illness these days, and your body’s symptoms are often just signs and signals that something is wrong.
Negative emotions and feelings have been known to drain energy and wreak havoc on the body.
These emotions trigger the body's stress response and autonomic nervous system to a cascade of stressful hormones.
Stressful hormones not only lower your immune system, but they also weaken your digestion and steal your sex hormones and deplete them. This leads to a chaotic rhythm of your heart.
What is a Chaotic Rhythm of the Heart?
When your heart and brain have poor communicating, physical issues begin to show up in the body.
People often treat these symptoms with medications, nutritional supplements, diet changes and even new exercise programs.
The truth is, nobody wants to feel awful or imbalanced.
The trouble with only treating your body on a physical level is that usually your results are not sustained. If the original thought patterns and stressors is not dealt with, new symptoms often arise.
I know for me, I had to learn to tame my self judgement and learn acceptance so that I could surrender to the things I could not change. It was a process of letting go, that brought me greater healing.
Your approach to healing needs to incorporate all levels for permanent healing.
Symptoms Of Stress
Stress has a laundry list of symptoms that manifest in the body over time.
A chronically stressed person can have any of the following symptoms and sometimes multiple symptoms.
Memory and Concentration issues
Blood Sugar Regulation issues
Digestive Issues (the gut is our second brain and closely linked)
Sluggish Detoxification Pathways
Multiple Chemical Sensitivities
Musculoskeletal imbalances and Misalignments
The list is long and certainly this is not an exclusive list.
Stress showed up in my body as chronic pain. This triggered an even bigger stress response which eventually created a lot of hormonal imbalances for me. I had burning pain, which created weight gain and sluggish detox pathways. This was all from stress.
As you can see Stress can truly create many issues in the body and not something you want to let take control of your life and body!
Remember:illness is just a reminder that you have stepped away from wholeness. It's finding your way back to that which will bring about TRUE HEALING.

5 Steps To Quiet Your Mind and De-Stress For Better Health
Breathe - Take time for yourself each day to slow down and focus on deep breathing. Deep slow breaths have actually been proven to turn down the sympathetic nervous system or stress response and engage the parasympathetic healing response.
It takes a few minutes each day to achieve a peaceful state through our breath.
I have incorporated deep breathing into my everyday routine. It brings about a sense of peacefulness and an abiltiy to cope with stress like I have never had before.
Visualize Love and Happy Memories - One of the best ways to improve the communication between your heart and your brain is to sit quietly each day, or whenever you are feeling stressed, and visualize a happy, joyful, loving memory. It can be something that you hold dear in your heart, or something you make up. All it has to do is bring you that warm feeling in your heart. At the same time breathe in deeply and slowly.
I also find it helpful to smile while doing this. It has been proven that a smile will release your happy hormones, even if it is a fake one!
According to the HeartMath Institute, healthy heart and brain communication is beneficial for improving Heart Rate Variability. As a result, communication between the heart, brain and nervous system are enhanced.
They have proven that positive emotions are associated with a specific physiological state called coherence. When your heart and brain are in coherence you will have improved physiological functioning, emotional stability and mental performance. So in a nutshell, better heart brain coherence equals less stress and negativity.
I have used the HeartMath clip in my meditations and deep breathing exercises to monitor how relaxed and peaceful my body is. I have found it a great tool for showing me when I am stressed and how to better relax.

Taking an uninterrupted bath
Going for a walk in nature
Spend time with your friends
Getting out of your routine and remembering to have fun is what this is all about. With more joy comes less stress, and a healthier immune system.
For me, daily walks on my own are a time to reflect, be one with nature and they bring me a sense of peace.
Let Things Go – In the past I used to get caught up in the small things. Like whether or not the dishes got done, or the mess the kids left behind. I realized that those things didn't deserve my energy. I have gotten into the habit of using a great destressing technique called, Will this matter later.
The technique is done when stress arises by asking yourself, “Will this Matter Tomorrow?” If the answer is no, then I do something that will bring me joy instead.
Count Your Blessings – I used to get caught up in all the things that were wrong with my life, and all the things I did not have. Focusing on those things only intensified the amount of stress I had."
To change this I made a Gratitude List. I wrote down all the things I am thankful for. I focus on that list every day and add things when appropriate. It reminds me that I have so much to be happy about.

As a teenager, my intentions and thoughts were often negative and affected my emotions. I judged myself daily which made me feel angry and fearful. Through this action of judgment and its associated emotions, my body became very sore and tight which caused mild depression, digestive problems, and relationship issues.
I had created quite a mess for myself.
As in my case, physical health issues can be the direct result of unhealthy thinking along with an emotional counterpart. Energetically, it caused a contraction of the energy flow in my body which also affected my blood circulation. Less blood circulation allowed waste materials to build up in my body which led to inflammation, swelling, and pain.
Eventually, I realized what I was doing was wrong and I felt pulled to make a change.
I began first by changing my intention about my life; I started with, “there must be more to life than this.” With that intention, I was intuitively guided to better choices and realized how I had created so much stress within myself.
But why had I created so much stress in my life?
The stress was a result of how I viewed my life rather than what it actually was. I now see how my life is a great opportunity to grow, expand, and become the best version of myself. Sure this is not always easy. But when I have moved through my challenges, I have found that my life has always improved.
Where did it all start for me? Intentions. I turned my intentions into action, which was the fun part. When you live a life through great intentions, you deepen your love for yourself and others.
So how do you and I set great intentions?
Close your eyes and say, “Today I set my intention to live fully with love and optimal health.”
With your eyes closed, ask yourself, “Is there anything I need to do right now to make this happen for me?”
Now that you have set your intention, you will be presented with opportunities to live fully with love and optimal health. Therefore, you must take action when these moments occur.
If you are not able to take action right away, carry around a notebook, or use your smartphone to write down any messages or signs that you receive.
If you have trouble taking action, it likely has to do with your relationship with the unknown and the emotional response you will get from it. In order to become a better version of yourself, it requires you go to a place that may be unfamiliar.
To help overcome hesitation, set your intention to have a healthy relationship with the unknown and change. This is done by closing your eyes and saying to yourself, “I set my intention to have a healthy relationship with the unknown and change.”
After setting this intention, check in with yourself to see how you feel about taking a specific action that makes you feel uneasy or scared. If you feel good or neutral now….great.
